The Viborg Shirt Project

A hand sewn viking shirt based on the Viborg find.   


The following photos are showing the shirt in various stages of completion and to show the various seam treatments in different areas of the shirt.











The following photos are of the completed shirt.  Note: the trim was woven by Katla of Viborg.  She contribruted the trim for this project as the recipient had helped her get set up on her first Pennsic.














This is the display I had at Pennsic.


Here is the shirt being worn by it's recipient.  He was quite happy with the shirt and the fit.



At another time, if I can find the file, I'll add the "Documentation" I wrote for the shirt at the display.   The file and I are currently not on the same computer......   Anyways, hope you enjoyed the photos.

C3 Challenge Mid-month(ish) Update

  Ok, I got a bit of a late start - I wanted to finish the "cocktail" dress I was in the process of sewing before really getting started.   (I'd show a pic, but it came out blurry - hard taking pics of yourself wearing clothing- and I'm not going to retake it anytime soon.) Where was I?  Right.  Let's start with my "plan"... 1) Layer 1 - Underwear     a)Chemise/Smock - white linen -squarish neckline hemmed with pulled thread method, sleeves with small cuff. Entering the Calontir Clothing Challenge

  In these dark days of plague and famine during the current global pandemic when all events and gatherings are non-existent, a great cry was sent out from the Kingdom of Calontir for challengers in their clothing challenge. What is this challenge you ask?  I'll tell you. "Welcome to the home of the Calontir Clothing Challenge (C3.) While we are all quarantined from each other for the good of the realm, we could also be doing good for our wardrobes. It was from this idea that the C3 was born." Required Layers Four layers will be required to complete the challenge. Each layer must be a separate item, but may be multiple items if you choose. Each item may only be attributed to one layer. Getting Ready for 2014

Not quite there yet, but am busy plotting, planning what I want to accomplish in 2014.  Goals are not quite set, I usually do those on New Year's Eve. One thing I plan on doing is to post here once per week.   During that post I plan to update on various topics any progress made during the week. The topics I am choosing are: A:The Pantry Challenge Update:  The Pantry challenge is to feed myself for the week using only what's in my cupboard, plus one shopping trip per week limited to $25 spending.   Plus, every other week I receive my share in an organic co-op of vegetables.   The Pantry Challenge topic also includes my progress as I lose weight and get my blood sugar down and myself out of the pre-diabetic condition.   And whether or not I managed to avoid the "forbidden 9"  - potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, cereal, dairy, sugar, alcohol, fruit - except one apple per day or 1/2 cup berries - for the diet plan I am following.  This Diet Plan has these forbidden 9 i
